We hereby request the President Obama and Congress support the forthcoming legislative bill, Stop Militarizing Law Enforcement Act or enact legislation that will demand the demilitarization of all local law enforcement in U.S. cities with populations under 1 million people. We further request that in the very few cities exceeding 1 million people, that stringent safeguards be put into place to assure proper training and use of the equipment so there is no assault on law abiding citizens exercising their Constitutional rights. Our neighborhoods are not warzones, and police officers should not be treating us like wartime enemies. Any yet, every year, billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment flows from the federal government to state and local police departments. It ends now.

Create a bill, sign into law, and set aside funds to require all state, county, and local police, to wear a camera. The law shall be made in an effort to not only detour police misconduct (i.e. brutality, profiling, abuse of power), but to ensure that all police are following procedure, and to remove all question, from normally questionable police encounters. As well, as help to hold all parties within a police investigation, accountable for their actions. Sign the Petition
Far to often police officers are caught on video abusing or killing citizens illegally but nothing happens to them. They will get off, be suspended or in rare cases fired only to get hired at another police station with a clean record. Dr.,Nurses and Aids lose their licence to practice health care if they abuse or kill patients. This should be the same for police if your not going to prosecute them at least forbid them from ever policing society. they make all cops look bad. It's time to clean out the trash so good cops can shine once again, before we lose all respect for authority. Read more
Help Curtis Shannon, a Vet and cooperative victim of police brutality from an officer with a power trip. Here is the link to the video. The video, however, shows it was Curtis Shannon, a young man from Florida who was probably fearing for his life during the arrest. It also shows that he remained professional as he tried to hand the cop his license and registration through a small opening after the cop pulled him over for what he claimed was erratic driving. But if anything was erratic, it the was behavior of the cop, whom unfortunately, Shannon refuses to identify out of what he says is “respect.” But the cop deserves no respect because he was downright criminal. A thug with a badge. A proud member of the Blue Mafia. Donate

The surveillance powers of the FBI are out of control. More and more, thanks in part to the fallout from the Petraeus scandal, people are now learning just how easily the government can access and track our most private communications and activities. The new era of live streaming is SIDEKIK! Not only does it safeguard your recording of the incident with live stream and cloud storage, but for about $5 per month you have access to an attorney to represent you on the spot. This attorney will actually speak with to the law enforcement officer immediately on your behalf at the time of the incident. There is no extra fee for the attorney to represent you later should the detainment lead to a false arrest, abuse, or otherwise. Video
We the people request that the Department of Justice create a webpage that will allow citizens to submit photos and videos of what they deem to be questionable police tactics and/or excessive force. This website should be monitored daily by DOJ staffers, and when appropriate and/or if patterns emerge, local police departments will be required to respond to DOJ inquiries. In addition the webpage should provide updates to the public on any action that has been taken as a result of citizen input. Read more
The inappropriate and counterproductive militarization of local police forces can be clearly seen in Ferguson, MO, where police have been confronting unarmed peaceful protesters with armored vehicles and heavy weapons. Media reports suggest that the equipment and rules of engagement being deployed in Ferguson are more aggressive than those which were used for crowd control in Iraq. Furthermore, Ferguson has been part of the Pentagon's 1033 program, which provides weapons to local police forces without adequate training. The Pentagon should end the 1033 program, and recall all heavy weaponry sold through the program. The militarization of America's streets disproportionately targets minority communities while threatening first-amendment rights of free speech and assembly.
Create a bill, sign into law, and set aside funds sufficient to collect data, at the national level and report on all unarmed civilian fatal encounters with police officers, sheriffs, and other deputies for all state, county, and municipal authorities. Due to the latest accounts of deadly encounters with police, We the People, petition for the Unarmed Civilian Law. The law shall be made in an effort to establish a centralized national database that would provide empirically acquired information to the public to support the efforts of community based organizations, legislators, other policy makers and individuals who strive to reduce the abuse of state authority. Printable Miranda Rights
Invoke your rights without having a panic attack. Print and keep a handful in your wallet in case you are stopped or questioned by law enforcement.
Stop believing that your vote doesn't count or that you are just one person so how can you really make a difference. If you are physically disabled, on house arrest, in a wheelchair, have no transportation, or whatever your "crutch" may be, there is a way you can help. Whether it's from your desk, couch, or taking it to the streets, you can become an active participant in the community. Everyone can contribute by being a voice through online petitioning or conducting research, organizing protests, liaise meetings, coordinate schedules, raise awareness or raise funds, over the phone or through email to cover Cop Watch expenses. Although it may seem, minimal, supplies like paper for flyers, contact cards, coffee at training meetings, radios, extra media cards for cameras, etc. can add up. You could organize Cop Watch paperwork (rosters, email lists) for Cop Watch Community groups, write stories or edit videos from the data received from the field, create and maintain social media pages and or a website for your group or a few groups. Consider being a part of the Fatal Encounters Project compiling information for a database on every police involved death since 2000. There is little excuse not to aid in preventing the police state. The corruption must stop now.
happened here. In Boston after the marathon bombing. Our rights as Americans are slowly being taken away under the guise of public safety. Did shutting down the city save anyone? No, but it set an extremely dangerous precedent for police trampling on the rights of the American people. These brutal incidents are exactly the reason why the United States of America were formed in the first place. The revolutionary war was the American people standing up and saying we will no longer tolerate the oppression of the those appointed to protect us. It starts at the bottom with the individual police force and will rapidly grow from there.
How do we make a difference? Here are five things that we the people can do to cause change.
1. Require that all officers of the law wear cameras at all times they are performing their duties. This alone in forces that adopt them have had a enormous impact in the number of incidents of police brutality. And as they are public servants, the public has a right to know what they are doing.
2. Immediately stop all transfers of military equipment to police forces and confiscate or destroy all equipment previously transferred. Why? Because they are the police, not the military. The job of the military is to protect us from foreign threats and they are equipped to do so. The job of the police is to enforce the law not protect the nation. Why exactly do they need tanks and machine guns to enforce the law?
3. Immediately enact strict physical fitness standards. Did you know that over 80% of cops are overweight? Did you ever think that if the officer involved in the Ferguson shooting was not overweight he may have been capable of arresting the young man without resorting to killing him? Too many police have only the resort of deadly force to use against a suspect because they are incapable of holding their own due to their obesity.
4. In any incident where police brutality is suspected, make it a requirement that an independent authority review the incident and recommend charges. A company who defrauds consumers doesnt get to investigate itself to find if it did anything wrong, so why do the police get to?
5. Prosecute. My mind goes back to a particular incident where a officer shot a man laying on the ground handcuffed in cold blood and was videotaped doing it, and received a year in jail. If you or I did that we would either be jailed for life or given the death penalty for murder.
This is just the beginning. Will this fix everything? No, but it will serve to stop the march of the United States to a police state.
If we do not act now, we will wake up one day to find that we have no rights left, and the only way to right the ship at that point will be armed revolution.
HOW TO STOP THE POLICE STATE
REPRINTED FROM COP BLOCK 9/1/2014
The problem with police brutality and overreaction is appalling and ever growing. What if I told you that there was a place where martial law was declared, a whole city was shut down, and the police detained anyone on the street and broke into countless peoples houses on the premise of protecting them? Thinking it must be China or Russia or Nazi Germany? No this tale
Support When police fear the police, it is high time for change. The Free Thought Project is contacted regularly from police officers who know the system they uphold is completely corrupt, but they find it nearly impossible to call out the corruption.
The Free Thought Project is starting this Go Fund Me campaign to help support whistleblower police officers. With enough 'good cops' coming out against corruption in their departments, this would help to speed up the awakening process for Americans who still support the police state.
The one thing that will remain constant, however, is the transparency of the distribution of funds. All donors will be kept in the loop as to where ALL money goes, and for what. No money will ever be given to Free Thought Project, nor any of our staff. More
FOR ANY PETITIONS REGARDING POLICE INVOLVED FATALITIES, PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE. IT IS NOT GOVERNMENT CENSORED, SO ALL EFFORTS ARE IN THE INTEREST OF THE PUBLIC IN REVEALING THE TRUTH IN THE CORRUPTION AND COVER UP. I BELIEVE THIS WOULD BE A MORE RELIABLE AND FACTUAL SITE TO REFERENCE THAN ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT SOURCED OR MONITORED SOURCE OF INFORMATION. EVERYONE IS WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE INFORMATION OF THE SITE, AS IT IS FAIRLY NEW AND THERE ARE AN ESTIMATED 17,000 POLICE INVOLVED DEATHS SINCE 2000. So, in a nutshell, Fatal Enounters is an effort to create a database using crowdsourced data, crowdsourced reporting, crowdsourced analysis and crowdsourced presentation in what I think must be one of the largest crowdsourced journalism projects in history.
